I Don’t Want To Be Costco

I Don’t Want To Be Costco!

Costco is my favorite store.

Like out of all the big stores you know….it’s hands down my favorite.

I just about all of my grocery shopping there.

I buy clothes from there.

Whenever I’m looking for something, I will usually see if they have it first.

I’m not really sure why I like Costco so much but I do. Something about having a somewhat limited option of choices entices me, maybe because making decisions has never been a strong suit of mine?

The kicker of it all, is the food from their cafeteria area once I’m done checking out….it’s impossible for me to walk out of there without a hot dog or piece of pizza.

Then the ultimate thing….for birthdays my family usually goes to a nicer restaurant to celebrate, well for my 29th birthday I decided to go to the Costco cafeteria. It was great and one that everyone will not forget solely for how weird it was.

Anyways, for how much I love Costco, I don’t want to be Costco.

Sure I put them towards the top when it comes to bigger stores like them and there’s no doubt that I strive to be the best I can and want to be looked at as the best. But it’s two completely different things.

At The Specific Chiropractic Centers we really strive on providing specific care to everyone that comes in. I work to make sure that everyone is receiving care that is meant exactly for them. That the care is tailored towards what they are dealing with. Like I mentioned Costco only offers only a couple things (sometimes only one) of each product they carry. There aren’t tons and tons of different types of spaghetti sauce, peanut butters, or ice cream….there is only one and they assume that you’ll like it.

It’s Not One Size Fits All

Sure the only thing we offer is Specific Chiropractic Care but it is different from person to person. If you were looking at it from the outside it would probably all look completely the same if I’m being honest. We use the same scanning tool, the way we take the x-rays are the same, the table is the same, people either turn their head to the right or left, but with all of that looking the same that’s where it really stops. We aren’t really concerned with how things look from the outside at the office but rather how things look on the inside.

Even Though a lot of the people that come into the office are dealing with similar symptoms and stories of what’s going on and how they feel….they are all very very different.

Are You Structuring Me?!

Let’s start out with the x-rays we take. We also take a side view of the neck, then 3 images with the person facing straight ahead. When the person faces straight we have them close their eyes for the entirety of the 3 images. This allows their body to go into its natural posture. We then shoot an image of them straight up and down, one of them flexing to the right (bringing their right ear to their right shoulder), and one to the left. What this does is puts the spine and body into motion. We can then see how everything is moving and if things are moving correctly or incorrectly. We can see the structure of the spine and see if there’s any fractures, degenerative changes, posture issues, and everything in between. Everyone’s spine looks different, the bones differ from one side to the other, angles of bones are different, issues with movement are different in everyone.

What the Function?!

This is one of the most important things we do at the office. There may be something on the x-ray that looks like some sort of misalignment but if the body is working correctly then we aren’t concerned with it. We use computerized thermography to determine if the body is working at 100%. The nervous system which is made up of the brain, brainstem, and spinal cord, is what controls everything in the body. If it’s not working properly we can see that, and will provide a very specific adjustment. If we see that the body is working correctly then we do not give an adjustment. So even though we may recommend a certain number of visits based on x-rays and nervous system scans, they are used up in a manner that is completely different for each person as it depends on how their body is responding, not really how they are feeling. I always tell people that feeling follows function….once we get the body working how it’s supposed to, then people start to feel better!

Now For The Final Piece

The x-ray portion of the office and the scanning all lead into one major thing….can you guess it?

That’s right, the adjustment!

When most people think of a chiropractor adjusting the neck they think of someone getting their head twisted and popped quickly. I am here to tell you that what we do at The Specific Chiropractic Centers is vastly different. We have a very different table than all other chiropractors and this allows us to get as specific as possible. We do only work with the top two bones in the neck but what’s really amazing is that we don’t twist the head or neck at all! This is usually a big relief for anyone that comes into the office. Our table allows us to position the person so that the adjustment is very fast and not scary for people.

Now as for the x-rays and scans…those tell us 2 very important things. The x-ray tells us WHAT needs to be adjusted and how that adjustment needs to take place. Does it need to happen from the right side, the left side, what part of the bone we contact, so on and so forth. It helps us get as specific as possible when talking about the anatomy of the body.

The scans tell us something equally important…WHEN to adjust. Imagine if we were to adjust someone when they didn’t actually need to be adjusted. What do you think would happen? Yeah, we’d be causing more harm than good! By knowing when we need to adjust we can really help people achieve their health goals.

So although we may seem like a chiropractic office that provides the same exact care for every person that walks into the door, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s our goal to make sure that we provide tailored care when it comes to people’s health. Symptoms and care plans may look similar but when it comes to the actual goods, it is all very different!

Unlike Costco.
